Tableau เป็นอีกหนึ่งเครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเพื่อนำไปใช้ในการสร้างรายงาน Business Intelligence ที่ช่วยวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลที่เก็บรวบรวมในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ จาก เครื่องมือการเก็บข้อมูล ทางธุรกิจไม่ว่าจะเป็นข้อมูลการซื้อขาย พฤติกรรมการซื้อของของลูกค้า การจัดเก็บข้อมูลสินค้าต่าง ๆ แล้วก็ข้อมูลขนาดใหญ่ Big Data เป็นต้น โดย โปรแกรม Tableau ก่อตั้งเมื่อปี 2003 จากผู้ก่อตั้ง 3 น จากหมาวิทยา Stanford 1. Pat Hanrahan ศาสตราจารย์สาขาคอมพิวเตอร์ กราฟฟิค 2. Chris Stolte นักศึกษาวิทยานิพนธ์ ของ Hanrahan และ 3. Christian chabot นักศึกษา MBA


โปรแกรม Tableau ยังมีความสามารถในการทำงานที่หลากหลาย
1. สามารถนำเข้าข้อมูลจากแหล่งข้อมูลหลาย ๆ แหละ ไม่ว่าจะเป็น Excel , Sql , Google Sheet เป็นต้น
2. สามารถ Visualization ข้อมูลในรูปแบบต่าง ๆ ให้อยู่ในรูปแบบของรูปภาพหรือกราฟฟิคที่ง่ายต่อการเข้าใจข้อมูลได้มากขึ้นและในโปรแกรมเองก็มีรูปแบบของกราฟให้เลือกมากมาย
3. โปรแกรมออกแบบมาเพื่อช่วยในการทำงานของ Business Intelligence ที่สามารถใช้งานได้ง่ายสำหรับทุกคน


นอกจากการทำงานที่หลากหลายในโปรแกรมผลการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูลต่าง ๆ ข้อมูลทางธุรกิจหรือข้อมูลที่เกี่ยวข้องในการดำเนินงานด้านต่าง ๆ ไปใช้ประโยชน์ได้อย่าง เช่น การสร้าง Content การตลาด และต่อยอดในการทำธุรกิจต่าง ๆ ที่คนทั่วไปสามารถเข้าถึงได้ง่ายต่อไป ยกตัวอย่าง เช่นธุรกิจ E-commerce เป็นต้น
